He has obtained 2 six-year research periods and has carried out numerous studies and projects on the production and ecology of truffle and mycorrhizal fungi of forest interest. Sustainable land-use planning models in Spain and Latin America based on GIS and remote sensing. Studies on CO2 fixation in soil and climate change. RESEARCH PROJECTS:
• 4 Main lines: (I) Ecology and soil-plant-mycorrhizae of Tuber (truffles) and other mycorrhizal fungi; (II) Study of the structure and ecology of various forest stands; (III) Studies on biology and C fixation in forest soils; (IV) Models of landscape planning, EIA and SEA based on SIG and focused on Transport Planning and Rural Planning. In relation to these 4 lines of research, I have presented more than 100 papers and / or posters at scientific congresses.
• Participation in more than 25 PROJECTS and public research agreements: in 18 of which I have documented my results with publications. I have been a principal investigator in 5 of the Public Covenants uncompetitive. The typology of the first 25 research projects.

PUBLICATIONS
More than 80 articles and book chapters published in scientific journals/books/proceedings (indexed; with peer evaluation system of reviewers) included 30 articles (20 as first author) published in journals with SCI impact factor index included in the Journal Citation Reports.

PhD in Forestry Engineering (1984). Professor at the E.T.S.I. Montes, Forestales y Medio Natural (ETSIMFMN). He has been awarded 3 six-year research periods. He is an expert in sustainable forest management, forest management close to nature, environmental planning, strategic planning, landscape ecology and environmental modelling.

Researcher in charge of the Research Group on Technologies and Methods for Sustainable Management (Silvanet). Since 1991 he has been Professor of Physical Planning and Engineering Projects at the School of Forestry Engineering of the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM).

He has worked as an expert for the European Commission and has also had experience as a free consultant. Principal investigator of 9 competitive projects in Spain and has participated in 14. He has also worked on numerous other projects for public administrations and companies. Author of more than 60 publications, 25 of them international.

His lines of research have been landscape, land planning, biodiversity conservation, environmental impact, management close to nature and remote sensing applied to the characterisation of forest structure and management. He has been one of the promoters of the introduction of close-to-nature forest management in Spain and the first President of the forestry association Pro Silva.

PhD in Agricultural Engineering (2003). Professor at the ETSI Agronomy, Food and Biosystems (ETSIAAB). He obtained his degree in Agricultural Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM) in 1998. In 1999 he joined the Research Staff Training Programme (FPI) of the Community of Madrid and completed his research training at the UPM (Department of Rural Projects and Planning), and at the American universities of Berkeley (at the Institute of Urban and Regional Development) and Stanford (at the Policy Analysis & Evaluation Unit). Her research focuses on participatory methodologies for planning, evaluation and management of policies and programmes, especially in relation to socio-economic, regional and rural development.

Her work focuses on sustainable forest management, forest management close to nature, urban tree management, environmental planning, strategic planning, landscape ecology and environmental modelling.

She has been a member of the Research Group on Technologies and Methods for Sustainable Management (Silvanet) since its formation. Since 2003 she is Professor of Mechanics at the E.T.S.I. de Montes, Forestal y del Medio Natural (ETSIMFMN) of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM).

She has worked as Project Coordinator at the Environmental Consultancy GEMAP. Participation in 15 R&D projects financed in public calls, in 2 of them as PI, being 2 of them European projects. Participation in 2 projects of the Ministry of Education, call for "Studies and Analysis", years 2008/09 and 2009/10. ORGANISATION

The Academic Committee of the Doctoral Programme (CAPD) is responsible for the definition of the doctoral programme, its updating, quality and coordination, as well as the progress of research, training and the authorisation of the presentation of theses of each doctoral student on the programme.

FUNCTIONS

  • Selection and admission of Master's and Doctoral students from among those pre-registered on the UPM web form, always respecting the procedures PR Access for Doctoral Students (PR/CL/010) and PR Admission for Doctoral Students (PR/CL/011) of the Internal Quality Assurance System (SAIC) of the ETSIAAB.

  • To study applications for credit recognition submitted by students.

  • Coordinate the development of the different subjects.

  • Promoting integration among the teaching staff.

  • Monitoring of teaching activities and evaluation of teaching quality.

TECHNICAL SECRETARIAT

The programme has a technical secretariat responsible for supporting the Academic Committee of the Doctoral Programme in the exercise of its functions. It will be in permanent contact with the students and lecturers of each subject, in order to be able to respond to the operational and functional needs that arise throughout the academic year.

Its specific functions are:
  • TO MANAGE ADMISSION APPLICATIONS THAT MUST BE MADE TELEMATICALLY.

  • ASSISTING IN THE MANAGEMENT OF THE ENROLMENT OF ADMITTED STUDENTS.

  • COORDINATING THE ACADEMIC CALENDAR OF THE DIFFERENT SUBJECTS.

  • MAINTENANCE AND UPDATING OF THE VIRTUAL PLATFORM.

  • UPDATING TEACHING MATERIALS.

  • ORGANISATION OF CLASSES.

  • CONTACT WITH STUDENTS AND COMMUNICATION OF NEWS RELATED TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF TEACHING.

  • SUPPORT FOR STUDENTS IN CARRYING OUT ADMINISTRATIVE PROCEDURES.

  • RESOLVING DOUBTS AND DEALING WITH COMPLAINTS.

In addition to all the means and resources of the research groups organising the programme, the Official Master's and Doctorate in Rural Development Project Planning and Sustainable Management has the following:

  • Classroom A9 (1st floor of the ETSIAAB building opposite the Aula Magna) with capacity for 40 students for the teaching of classes.
  • Two offices with meeting area.

  • There is also access to the rest of the facilities offered by the ETSIAAB: lecture hall, Assembly Hall, Publications and reprographics service, Library, etc.
