Registration calendar for UPM masters

There are two registration periods, depending on the start date of the course:

o Start in September: 1^st of February to 30^st of Jun 2022

o Start in January: 14^th of November 2022 to 15^th of January 2023

2. Required Application Documents

The registration and the submission of the documents is done online via HELIOS, the registration platform of the UPM.

To select the program in HELIOS MASTER, go to Pre-enrollment / Choice of degree / Type / Master / University Master's Degree in Rural Development Project Planning and Sustainable Management.

After the registration you will obtain a .pdf document which serves as prove of your registration at the UPM.

For the registration you must submit the following documents in pdf format, each needs to be less than 1Mb:

• National Identity Document of Spain (DNI) or Passport. IMPORTANT: Identity Cards from other countries are not valid.
• Motivation letter.
• Letter of recommendation, a maximum of 2 letters will be evaluated.
• Undergraduate and graduate degree, if applicable.
• Official academic transcript of records of the degree and postgraduate, if applicable. This document must be issued, stamped and signed by the same academic authorities as the degree itself. Documents generated through web pages will not be accepted, due to their lack of academic validity.

Optional documents:

• Language certificate of English or Spanish

Notes:

1. In order to register you should have completed the requirements. It is possible to register without representing all documentation at once. In this case however, the registration is preliminary, and the required documentation must be sent, as soon as it is available, to helios@upm.es. If the registration has not been justified in time, the assigned place and the right for admission will be revoked.
2. In the online application, documents can be presented without being legally certified. Admitted students have a maximum of two months, after registration, to present the original or legally certified documents in the appropriate secretary. If these documents are not presented, the registration will be annulled. It is expected that these documents are presented in September with the beginning of the taught classes.

The Vice-Rectorate of Research, Innovation and Doctorates, Department of Doctorates and Research Support will review the documentation provided to verify that it meets the legal requirements of Spain.

1. Evaluation and admission of candidates:

The Academic and Quality Committee of the Master will evaluate the files of the registered candidates based on several criteria (listed below). Admission of the candidate depends on the score obtained and the availability of places. The principles of gender equality, equal opportunities and the assessment of merits will be taken into account.

The Academic and Quality Committee of the Master considers the following criteria when evaluating the provided documents (total of 100 points):

• Education and academic record, especially qualifications of competences and knowledge related to the specialization of the program (20 points).
• Professional and research experience, especially in activities related to the specialization of the program (35 points).
• The motivation letter of the candidates demonstrating their interest and their field of research (10 points).
• The recommendation letter from accredited professionals in the scientific and professional community related to the program (10 points).
• Sufficient knowledge of English and Spanish will be assessed, as it ensures that the teaching will be handled without difficulty. The required level of both Spanish and English recommended is B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages ​​(CEFR) or equivalent (5 points).
• A personal interview with each candidate (20 points).

2. Publication of the list of admitted:

The secretariat will inform the candidates via email about the admission.
The final list of admitted students will be published on the UPM website.

Before you can enroll yourself at the university you must be registered and admitted to the corresponding master's program. All admitted students will receive complementary information explaining the enrollment before the enrollment period starts.

The enrollment must be done within an established period (date to be determined) at the secretariat of the college coordinating the chosen master's program. Students have the possibility of online enrollment through Self-enrollment.

New students of a University Master's Degree must complete the self-enrollment following the instructions, activate their account @ alumnos.upm.es  as well as request an appointment for enrollment. Appointments are not available until the beginning of the enrollment period.
