ENROLLMENT

Once the student has been admitted to the Master program, the student must formalize his/her pre-enrollment. This happens through the main services of the Vice-Rectorate for PhD and Postgraduate Studies at the UPM. These services are accessed through the Virtual Polytechnic website.

The following criteria must be taken into account:

- Full-time students must complete between 27 and 33 ECTS because there are only 2 enrollments during one academic year.  One enrollment begins the end of September/ beginning of October and the other occurs at the end of January/beginning of February.  
- Students with scholarships could be enrolled for 60 ECTS during the first period of enrollment by making a request for a complete enrollment to the Secretariat of the Center (ETSI Agrónomos) addressed to the Center of Attention to Users (CAU).
- Part-time students must study at least 12 ECTS.
- Students could study supplementary training lessons in parallel with the Master subjects (up to the maximum number of possible credits per semester), whenever the Master subjects are not closed to supplementary training students.

Instructions for enrollment

The process of enrollment has two stages: obtaining a UPM email account and the self-enrollment itself.

1) OBTAINING A UPM EMAIL ACCOUNT
To obtain a UPM email account, follow these steps:

  • Go to: https://www2.upm.es/gsr/correo_alumnos/solicitud.upm

  • Use the same identifier that was used to make the online pre-enrollment in the Master (ID Card or Passport)

  • Use the day and month of birth as the password in the following format (mmdd). Those students, whose date of birth does not have two numbers, must write a zero ahead of the number. Example: January 3rd: (0301)

  • Follow the instructions that will guide you through the application to obtain the account.

2) Online SELF-ENROLLMENT

Once the UPM email account is obtained, the student must go to the “Virtual Polytechnic” platform through the following link: https://www2.upm.es/politecnica_virtual/login.upm

At the UPM the full-term semester period is used and two periods of enrollment in each academic year must be used: September and February. In accordance with article 74 of the Enrollment Regulations of the UPM, full-time students must enroll in each period with a minimum of 27 ECTS and a maximum of 33 ECTS. Thus, it is necessary to enroll in all compulsory and elective subjects during the first period (a total of 27 ECTS), The Final Master’s Thesis (15 ECTS) and remaining subjects in the second period (18 ECTS) will make a total of 60 ECTS.

It is worth mentioning that students must enroll in the Final Master’s Thesis during the second year of their degree program.  The FMT is given annually. The Master’s Thesis begins during the online period in September and ends in June. Students have a more substantive work load during the second period.

Students who have pre-enrolled in the PhD Degree Program, “PhD in Project Planning of Rural Development and Sustainable Management”, must also enroll in the “University Master in Project Planning of Rural Development and Sustainable Management”.
Once the student has entered the “Virtual Polytechnic” site, a direct access to the online Enrollment page (or UPM Self-Enrollment) appears. Another route to access the UPM self-Enrollment (or online Enrollment) is as follows:

- Click the  “Utilities” tab.
- A menu will appear on the left. Go to Administración ->Matrícula online -> Másteres Oficiales -> Acceder a Automatrícula.

 

A new window will open and the UPM Self-Enrollment page will appear.

 

This window contains the first of 9 steps. Each window must be filled in by following the instructions. Click “continue” to continue the self-enrollment process.

For the subject selection step, choose the subjects that correspond to the period of enrollment.

- 1st Enrollment - enrollment in the following subjects - with their corresponding codes - must be completed:

Module I: Planning, management and evaluation of rural development
Compulsory 23000136 Rural Planning with ecological basis: Development models 5 ECTS
Compulsory 23000137 Evaluation design: Methods and tools 5 ECTS
Compulsory 23000140 Management of rural/local development projects: Basis for competence 5 ECTS
Elective 23000139 Planning in the public field: from knowledge to action 2 ECTS
Elective 23000140 Participative and collaborative evaluation for entrepreneurship   
2 ECTS
Elective 23000141 Basis for competence in project management 2 ECTS
Module IV: Research in Development
Compulsory 23000149 Scientific writing: Elaboration of thesis and scientific articles 3 ECTS
Elective 23000150 Human development 3 ECTS
Total 27 ECTS

Remember that full-time students must enroll in a total of 27 ECTS.  Add the ECTS of both the compulsory and elective subjects together.

Module II: Quantitative techniques for a sustainable development

Module V: Final Master’s Thesis

In the second Self-Enrollment, a full-time student must enroll in a minimum of 33 ECTS  With 27 ECTS already studied in the first semester and 33 ECTS in the second, the student will complete a total of 60 ETCS, which is the number of ECTS required to obtain the degree.



In this period the student must necessarily enroll in 17 ECTS of compulsory subjects, 15 ECTS of Final Master’s Thesis and 2 ECTS to be chosen among elective subjects.

Once the student finishes the enrollment, a 4-page document in PDF format is generated. These are enrollment copies that go to:

- Bank

- University

- Center

- Student

It is recommended that students keep a copy of the same information in PDF format. With these proofs of payment, the student should go to the bank before their due date (15 calendar days after the enrollment) to make the payment. The bank gives the student 3 sealed letters back (the bank keeps one copy) - a copy for the student and the Secretariat of the ETSI Agrónomos; a copy for the University; and a copy to be sent to the Center.  

At the beginning of the on-campus period, students must go to the Secretariat of the ETSI Agrónomos to compare their submitted documents to studies that give access to the Master Therefore, the original and certified copy of the degree certificate and transcript of records must be submitted. At that time, a student’s file will be opened at the Secretariat.  It will be necessary to bring a copy of your ID card or passport. Also, students must bring two pictures for their student identity card and their student file at the Secretariat.
