The Master can be accessed by candidates who are in possession of a BSc degree in Engineering or Science obtained in Spain, or in another country, who have studied a total of 240 ECTS credits of university studies, or the equivalent. Access will be granted by the Vice-Rectorate for PhD and Postgraduate Studies of the UPM following the legalization process for academic documents issued abroad.

Among the assessment criteria taken into account by the Vice-Rectorate for PhD and Postgraduate Studies for the access of students are the criteria established in the article 16 of Real Decree 1393/2007 for the access to official Master’s teachings:

1. In order to be admitted into the official Master studies, the student must hold an official Spanish university degree or one obtained at an institution of higher education in the European Space for Higher Education authorized in Spain to accede to the Master teachings.
2. Similarly, students from educational systems outside the European Space of Higher Education, without the need for accreditation of their degrees, upon establishing at the Polytechnic University of Madrid that these studies demonstrate a level of training equivalent to official Spanish universities degrees and which qualifies students for access to post-graduate studies in the country of issue. Access via this route will not mean, in any case, official accreditation of the previous degree held by the student, or recognition for any purpose other than access to the Master course. 

Specific access requirements

Spanish students and members of the EC must take the following steps:

Request for access via website through pre-enrollment. Students could choose, by order of priority, up to three different Master’s programs.

To send the following documents through the online pre-enrollment form:

• Academic degree. There are two options:

o Degree of Engineering, Science, Architecture or Master of the European Space (for PhD Programs of RD 56/2005 y RD 1393/2007) issued by the home institution, or proof of having applied for it.
o Decision of homologation by the Ministry of Education.

• ID Card or Passport.

Note: In case students are admitted, they will have a maximum period of a month after the enrollment to submit original documents to the Secretariat of their corresponding centers. If these documents are not submitted, the enrollment will be cancelled for all purposes.

Non-member of the EC students must take the following steps:

Request for admission via web. Students could choose, by order of priority, up to three different Master’s programs.

The following documents must be sent through online admission application forms:

• Degree or proof of having applied for it, legalized via the diplomatic route.

• ID card: Passport, Foreign Identification Number (NIE) or identity card.

• Transcript of Records, where it provides a  list of courses studied, together with the grade and number of hours (credits) for each subject.

• Certificate signed by a responsible person representing the University, with the total number of studied hours, in which it establishes the difference between teaching hours and practice hours in case this information is not shown in the Transcript of Records. This information is indispensable.

Note: In the online application form, documents without authentication will be admitted exceptionally. If students are admitted, they will have a maximum period of a month after the enrollment to submit original documents legalized in the Secretariat of their corresponding centers. If these documents are not submitted, the enrollment will be cancelled for all purposes.
