The general objective of the Master is to train specialists in planning, evaluation and management of rural and local development projects as well as in sustainable management of territories and their biodiversity. Thus, training in planning, evaluation and management of development projects in their more social and economic aspects, and training related to environmental development, technologies and methods for sustainable management of the territory and its biodiversity, are integrated into the same program. This general objective is accomplished through the following specific objectives that students participating in the Master must achieve:

Development of skills to formulate, evaluate and manage a project within the prescribed framework for sustainable rural development.

Ability to obtain, store, treat and analyze the economic, social and physical information required for development projects and apply proper decision making methods during the rural development processes.

Ability to manage and evaluate human and natural resources and potential activities to develop a rural environment, especially with regard to the complex interrelationship between agents and processes.

Ability to develop follow-up and evaluation programs in order to prospectively study the answers for each territory in accordance with specific conditions.

Ability to make critical analysis, evaluations and synthesis of new and complex ideas within the chosen field of specialization.

Ability to manage international bibliographical foundations and professional and scientific writings for the publication of research papers and their outcomes.

Development of the ability to communicate ideas and present them to the academic and scientific community as a whole, and society in general, concerning the field of knowledge chosen for specialization.

Ability to understand, design and put into practice a research work on development within the chosen field of specialization.
